Questions, answered

How does the YouTube summarizer work?

InsightsTube reads the video's captions, then an AI model writes a short TL;DR, 3 to 5 key takeaways with timestamps, a longer summary and who the video is for. Every point links back to the moment in the video.

Is the summarizer free?

Yes. The transcript is free without an account. The AI summary needs a free Google account and you get 3 summaries a day. If someone has already summarized the same video, you can read its TL;DR without signing in.

Can it summarize long videos and podcasts?

Yes. Lectures, podcasts and streams work as long as the video has captions. For very long videos the summary is built from roughly the first hour of the transcript.

What other formats can I get besides a summary?

In the Summary tab, pick a format: chapters and mentions, study notes with flashcards and a quiz, key insights and actions, language notes, a recipe card or a workout program.

How accurate are AI summaries?

A summary is only as good as the captions and can compress nuance. Use the timestamps to check quotes, numbers and important claims in the video before relying on them.

What if the video has no captions?

Then there is nothing to summarize. Captions can be turned off by the creator, and YouTube may not have generated them yet for new uploads or music videos.
