Privacy Policy

insightstube.com ("InsightsTube", "we", "us") is run by Denis, an individual operator based in Ukraine, who is the controller of the personal data described in this policy. You can reach us at info@insightstube.com. The short version: an account is optional, we store only what is needed to sign you in, the site is funded by ads, and you control advertising cookies through the consent message.

What we process

• Video URLs you submit. When you request a transcript, the video ID is sent to our caption provider (TranscriptAPI) to fetch the public caption track from YouTube. Transcripts are generated on demand and are not stored on our servers.
• AI summaries and transcript chat. When you request a summary, insights, a template, a translation or ask a question about a video, the necessary transcript text (and your question) is sent to the DeepSeek API, which is operated by DeepSeek and runs on servers in the People's Republic of China. If DeepSeek is unavailable, the same request is sent to OpenAI (GPT-5) or, as a last fallback, Anthropic (Claude). We do not store the input or output on InsightsTube servers. OpenAI states that API inputs and outputs are not used to train its models by default; see the OpenAI API data controls. DeepSeek and Anthropic describe their handling in their own privacy policies. Do not submit personal data in chat questions.
• Optional account (Sign in with Google). If you sign in, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google and store them with our database provider (Supabase), together with the sign-up date, the tool you signed up from, your email preference and your daily usage counts. We use the account to apply usage limits. We send product updates and offers only if you tick the email box when signing in, and every email lets you unsubscribe.
• Technical logs. Our hosting provider (Vercel) keeps standard server logs (IP address, user agent, request time) for security and abuse prevention. We use them only for operating the service.

Advertising (Google AdSense)

We show ads served by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. Ads may also be served by other ad technology vendors that Google works with; they are listed in the consent message.

• Opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info/choices or youronlinechoices.eu.
• Learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Cookies and consent

• Visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland see a consent message from Google's consent management platform (certified under the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework) before advertising cookies are used. If you do not consent, Google may still show non-personalized or limited ads, which can use cookies or local storage for frequency capping, aggregated reporting and fraud prevention.
• Visitors in US states with privacy laws (such as California) can opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for targeted advertising through the same message. We then ask Google to apply restricted data processing.
• You can change your choice at any time with the Cookie settings link in the footer.
• Essential cookies. If you sign in, we set cookies that keep you signed in. Cloudflare Turnstile may set a technical cookie for bot protection. These do not require consent.

Analytics

We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views and see which tools are used. It does not use cookies and does not identify individual visitors; statistics are aggregated.

Bot protection

To stop automated abuse, transcript requests from visitors who are not signed in are checked by Cloudflare Turnstile. Turnstile processes technical signals from your browser, such as your IP address and browser type, only to tell people from bots. See the Turnstile Privacy Addendum.

Legal bases (GDPR)

• Contract: providing the tools and your account when you use them.
• Consent: personalized advertising cookies and marketing emails. You can withdraw consent at any time.
• Legitimate interests: security, abuse prevention, server logs, aggregate analytics and non-personalized ads that fund the free service.

Service providers and international transfers

We use these providers to run the service: Vercel (hosting, analytics), Supabase (accounts), Google (sign-in, advertising, consent message), Cloudflare (bot protection), TranscriptAPI (captions), DeepSeek, OpenAI and Anthropic (AI features). Some of them process data outside your country, including in the United States and China. Where a provider offers them, transfers are covered by standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards. We do not sell your data for money.

How long we keep data

• Account data: until you delete your account or ask us to.
• Email preference: until you unsubscribe or change it.
• Transcripts and AI requests: not stored by us.
• Server logs: kept by Vercel for a limited period under its own retention rules.
• Advertising cookies: lifetimes set by Google and its partners; you can clear them in your browser.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you can ask us to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, restrict or object to processing, and withdraw consent. US state residents can also opt out of targeted advertising and will not be discriminated against for using their rights. Without an account we usually hold no personal data about you. Write to info@insightstube.com; we reply within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

The service is not directed at children under 13 (under 16 in the EEA) and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes

We may update this policy as the service evolves. The date above always reflects the latest revision. Significant changes will be noted on this page.
